The Kansas City Chiefs' wide receiver room remains one of the top storylines in training camp.
With Rashee Rice still rehabbing from right knee debridement surgery in May, all eyes have been on who emerges as Patrick Mahomes' go-to target in practice — and through the first week, that receiver was fifth-round rookie Cyrus Allen.
Multiple reports last week noted that Mahomes was repeatedly looking Allen's way whenever he was on the field, with the two already building a strong rapport as Rice continues working his way back.

Another receiver expected to take a leap this season is Xavier Worthy, who missed several games last year due to injury but has arguably been the Chiefs' most dangerous offensive weapon over the past two seasons, with the kind of game-breaking speed that keeps defenses on their heels.
Unfortunately, both receivers went down with injuries late last week. Allen was carted to the locker room Saturday with a shin injury, while Worthy was evaluated for a shoulder sprain.
On Monday, head coach Andy Reid provided an encouraging update on both players, saying they're expected to return to practice later this week.

The Chiefs are at an interesting point in their run atop the AFC. They're coming off a 6-11 season — their lowest win total since 2012 — and missed the playoffs for the first time since 2014. Mahomes is working his way back from a torn ACL and LCL, and Travis Kelce, now 36, is nearing the twilight of his career.
The need for a steady, reliable receiver room has arguably never been greater in Kansas City, and getting Allen and Worthy back will be crucial as the team builds toward Week 1 of the 2026 season. Both have clearly earned Mahomes' trust early, and both figure to be leaned on heavily this season.
The Chiefs open the preseason Saturday, Aug. 15, against the Los Angeles Rams at Arrowhead Stadium.
