Kansas City Chiefs star rookie cornerback Mansoor Delane popped up on the team's injury report on Thursday as a non-participant with a shoulder injury. However, the team isn't giving up hope that he could still play in its Week 8 matchup against the Denver Broncos.

The Chiefs officially listed Delane as questionable for Sunday's game against the Broncos, along with fellow cornerback L'Jarius Sneed (knee) and defensive end R Mason Thomas (personal). Defensive tackle Omarr Norman-Lott has been ruled out with a knee injury.

It is certainly good news, given the nature of the injury. Delane dealt with a shoulder injury in training camp and then reaggravated it in Week 1. So, it could be that the injury is flaring up once again.

However, the Chiefs' decision to keep the door open for him to play in Week 8 signifies that it doesn't look to be too serious.

Delane has quickly established himself as one of the best up-and-coming defenders in the league, recording 27 tackles, five passes defensed and one interception through five games.

The No. 6 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, Delane played college football at Virginia Tech (2022-24) and LSU, where he had 45 tackles, 11 passes defensed and two interceptions and was named a unanimous All-American and first-team All-SEC in 2025.
