Heading into Sunday's game versus the New York Jets, Kansas City Chiefs star defensive tackle Chris Jones had only recorded 0.5 sacks through seven games. It was not as productive of a season as Jones is used to seeing.

Jones stepped up on Sunday, though. He logged two sacks against Jets quarterback Geno Smith on Sunday, bringing his season total to 2.5.

The most impressive part of Jones registering those sacks is that he moved up in the Chiefs' all-time sacks list. In his 11th season in Kansas City, Jones has now recorded a total of 90 sacks. He surpassed former Chiefs defensive end Tamba Hali, who ended his 12-year tenure in Kansas City with 89.5 sacks. Hali retired in 2017, meaning Jones played with him for two seasons in KC.

Jones now sits second on the list of the franchise's all-time sacks list. He trails the team's all-time leader Derrick Thomas, who ended his career with 126.5 sacks, all with the Chiefs. The Pro Football Hall of Famer was the NFL's sacks leader in 1990 with 20 that season.

Jones would have to play a few more seasons in order to get close to surpassing Thomas's long-standing Chiefs record. Even if Jones doesn't take that first-place spot, it's still impressive to be included on the short list amongst legends in the game.

His 90th career sack came in the fourth quarter as Jones took down Smith for a loss of six yards. The sack ended the Jets' drive, which was their second-to-last one of the 35-12 loss to the Chiefs.

Jones's teammate George Karlaftis also recorded two sacks on Sunday on Smith. Defensive end Ashton Gillotte recorded the fifth sack for Kansas City.
