Christian McCaffrey could not lead the San Francisco 49ers to a win over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, but he still made NFL history.
After the game, the NFL+ X/Twitter account revealed that McCaffrey has joined Pro Football Hall of Famer Marshall Faulk as the only players in NFL history with 70-plus career rushing touchdowns and 30-plus receiving touchdowns in their careers. McCaffrey earned his 70th rushing touchdown on Sunday, and he has 36 receiving TDs.
The 49ers lost to the Falcons 29-20, their first defeat of the year after winning their first six games. McCaffrey was not the reason San Francisco lost, as he recorded 39 rushing yards, one rushing touchdown, and 61 receiving yards.

Christian McCaffrey has put together a Hall of Fame career
McCaffrey is in his 10th NFL season and has been with the 49ers since 2022. The Carolina Panthers selected McCaffrey in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft, and he has been one of the most dynamic backs in the league.
In McCaffrey's career, he has been selected to the Pro Bowl four times, named to the All-Pro Team four times, won the NFL Offensive Player of the Year award in 2023, and won the Comeback Player of the Year award last year.
It's not surprising for fans to see McCaffrey mentioned along with Faulk because their games are similar. Faulk played in the NFL from 1994 to 2005 and was a dangerous running back. He was selected to the Pro Bowl seven times, named to the All-Pro Team six times, and he's a three-time Offensive Player of the Year winner.
Faulk also helped the St. Louis Rams win the Super Bowl during the 1999 season. And along with being a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Faulk is a member of the Colts Ring of Honor, and his No. 28 Rams jersey is retired.
