Anthony Richardson was once believed to be the answer for the starting quarterback position for the Indianapolis Colts when they drafted him fourth overall in 2023.

In his first two seasons, Richardson started in 15 total games as he dealt with various injuries. Then, in '25, he lost the starting quarterback competition to Daniel Jones.

This led Richardson to requesting a trade back in February of this year ahead of the 2026 season. However, he remains on the Colts even as time nears the NFL trade deadline on Nov. 10.

The Colts have made lots of moves ahead of the trade deadline, sending away guard Quenton Nelson and defensive lineman DeForest Buckner, and they might not be done as running back Jonathan Taylor is a name that continues to pop up in trade discussions. Is Richardson a consideration to trade ahead of next week's deadline, too?

Indianapolis Colts, Anthony Richardson

...

There hasn't been much discussion about Richardson leaving Indianapolis before next week. Richardson himself even talked about the trade request on Thursday when speaking to reporters, and he doesn't seem focused on trying to find a new team. He wants to help the Colts in whatever way he can.

“Man, I just think about getting on the field. Everybody wants to be out on the field and make plays for the team," Richardson said. "I haven’t thought about any trade requests or any deadlines.”

The Colts are 2-6 this season with Jones starting. Jones also has been involved in rumored trade talks, specifically with the Minnesota Vikings. If Jones leaves Indianapolis ahead of the deadline, then there's a chance the Colts will elevate Richardson to the starting role.

There could be a quarterback change-up in Indianapolis in the coming days. If not, the Colts should still figure out what's not working well for their offense because they're struggling to win games this season.
