The Indianapolis Colts head into Week 15 without Daniel Jones and, at least for now, without Anthony Richardson, leaving a thin quarterback room and raising immediate playoff concerns.

Jones suffered a torn Achilles late in Sunday’s loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars and will miss the remainder of the 2025 NFL season, coach Shane Steichen confirmed Monday; Jones is scheduled for surgery this week.

Through 13 games, Jones had thrown for 3,101 yards with 19 touchdown passes and eight interceptions, along with 164 rushing yards and five rushing scores.

Those numbers helped push the Colts to an 8-5 record entering Week 15.

Adding insult to injury, coach Steichen on Monday reiterated that Richardson is still not cleared to return to practice or be activated for Week 15 as he continues to recover and undergo medical evaluations.

When Jones exited Sunday, rookie Riley Leonard took over, completing 18 of 29 passes for 145 yards with one interception and a rushing touchdown in the loss.

For now, the Colts face limited quarterback depth, with Leonard the lone available option.

Richardson, the 2023 No. 4 overall pick, has had an up-and-down NFL start with clear physical upside but intermittent availability.

Richardson's listed with only a handful of snaps this season after being placed on injured reserve with an orbital/eye fracture sustained in Week 6.

A ruptured Achilles in an NFL player is a season-ending injury with a recovery window that often ranges from roughly 9-12 months for return to play; many players return closer to the 10-12 month mark and some never regain prior form.

That makes Jones a candidate to miss the start of the 2026 season as well, depending on surgical outcome and rehab.

With Jones confirmed out and Richardson still not cleared, Indianapolis is effectively down two projected starters heading into a pivotal stretch.
