When NFL fans are asked to name the top contenders for the Super Bowl this season, popular teams to be mentioned are likely the Buffalo Bills, Chicago Bears, Kansas City Chiefs, San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks and the league's only undefeated group, the Minnesota Vikings.
One of the last teams that anyone would label as a threat to hoist the Lombardi Trophy in February is the Arizona Cardinals.
Arizona is led by first-year head coach Mike LaFleur, has the worst-ranked defense in the league (29.7 points allowed per game) and enters its Week 8 matchup versus the Dallas Cowboys last in the NFC West at 2-5.

The Cardinals not only have never won a Super Bowl title, but have only made the big game once (in 2009) and have missed the playoffs in each of the last four years.
Don't tell any of that to Cowboys star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb though.
The five-time Pro Bowler has never beaten Arizona in his six-plus NFL seasons, going 0-4 in his career versus the Cardinals.

...
The last time that Dallas defeated Arizona was in Week 3 of the 2017 campaign, when Lamb was a rookie wideout at the University of Oklahoma and Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott was in his second pro season.
The Cardinals have beaten Dallas in eight of the last nine meetings dating back to 2008, when Lamb was nine years old.
"[We were] being very, very relaxed, and they punched us in the mouth every single time. They've always had more energy. They were more excited, regardless of if it was a 12 o'clock, Sunday night or Monday night," the 27-year-old pass-catcher said, according to DallasCowboys.com staff writer Patrik Walker. "We've played them in prime time, they beat us there. So, we need to treat them as if they are a Super Bowl contending team, which they may be, you know what I'm saying? Hats off to them in their prep, and we just got to go match them. If not overpowered that."
The Cowboys enter Sunday afternoon's home game at 3-4 and coming off a Week 7 "Monday Night Football" victory against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Arizona has dropped five of its last six since opening the year with a road win versus the Los Angeles Chargers.
