Training camp is in the bag for the Philadelphia Eagles. The questions that the team had at the cornerback position, unfortunately, remain 20 days into August.
Darius Slay was there to make the Eagles feel comfortable for the past few seasons. After he left for the Pittsburgh Steelers in free agency, the Eagles felt confident in Kelee Ringo's ability to take over as the sure replacement potentially.
With the preseason concluding this week, it's become clear that Ringo's status as the cornerback on the opposite side of the second-year star Quinyon Mitchell isn't exactly clear.

As training camp for the Eagles wrapped up on Wednesday, NBC Sports Philadelphia's Reuben Frank listed out the standouts and disappointments for this year's offseason. Ringo headlined the unfortunate part of the list.
"He's got all the traits you're looking for with outstanding size, speed and length. But Ringo just hasn't been able to put it all together this summer," Frank wrote in his latest column.

"He's struggled since the start of camp as the Eagles try to replace six-time Pro Bowler Darius Slay, and newcomers Adoree' Jackson and Jakorian Bennett have both passed him on the depth chart. Ringo hasn't gotten 1st-team reps the last two days and Bennett and Jackson have, as has rookie 5th-round pick Mac McWilliams. Very disappointing summer for Ringo."

The Eagles picked up Ringo out of Georgia in 2023. He became the team's fourth-round pick and appeared in 17 games during his rookie season in 2023.
That year, Ringo started four games. He totaled 21 tackles throughout the year, broke up two passes, and landed an interception.
In 2024, Ringo remained behind Slay on the depth chart, as Mitchell emerged as a starter during his rookie campaign. In 17 games, Ringo totaled 15 tackles, had one pass deflection, and one forced fumble and fumble recovery.

The 23-year-old's progress in a limited role through two years helped the Eagles feel confident in his ability to earn the starting spot as Slay's replacement. There haven't been any signs suggesting that would be the case.
The Eagles will play the New York Jets on Friday, August 22. That game will be critical in determining who the Eagles roll out for the first week of the regular season.
