For years, Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni has been one of the most polarizing figures in professional sports.

While his résumé is quite impressive and his winning record is undeniable, his demeanor has often rubbed people the wrong way. There have also been countless reports of a dysfunctional locker-room dynamic, and his units have only been as good as his coordinators.

That's why team owner Jeff Lurie wanted to give him his unwavering support. With another incendiary report on Jalen Hurts and the Eagles, Lurie made it loud and clear that Sirianni is still his guy, regardless of some miscues:

“His performance has been nothing short of outstanding, one of the best — first, what, five years in the history of the NFL? Two Super Bowls in three years, one of which we won, one of which was taken away from us,” Lurie told The Athletic, citing a late-game penalty in Super Bowl LVIII. “Incredible leadership. But authenticity is huge in my world and in the players’ world. Nobody’s perfect. I’m far from it. You guys are far from it. It’s about authenticity, leadership, understanding when you should delegate, when you shouldn’t delegate, how to lead a team through the ups and downs. We’re the only team to repeat as division champions. No one else was even able to do it.”

Sirianni may not necessarily be the most popular guy, even for his fan base. That said, he's led the team to two Super Bowl appearances, one ring, a 59-26 regular-season record, and a 6-4 postseason record.

He may have failed to keep the locker room together, and the constant leaks and off-the-field reports raise doubts about his ability to keep the ship afloat, but numbers simply don't lie.

Of course, that could all change with another disappointing season. GM Howie Roseman has built a behemoth of a team on both sides of the field, and there shouldn't be any more room for excuses in the City of Brotherly Love.
