Jonathan Taylor could be traded before the deadline, and a former New York Giants running back would love for the team to acquire him.
Rashad Jennings appeared on "Yahoo Sports Daily" on Thursday and said that it makes a lot of sense for the Giants to acquire Taylor. New York has a talented running back in Cam Skattebo, but he is dealing with a hamstring injury.
"I'm obviously biased to my beloved Giants. I think it would make a big difference," Jennings said. "I love Cam Skattebo, for sure. He's a phenomenal runner. But when you talk about home run ability, Jonathan Taylor, if you cut on the tapes, there's lot of runs where it would have been a touchdown.

"Because the Giants are in a position where they do not have the franchise quarterback - they've got some quarterback that potentially could become that - but they don't have the franchise quarterback; they have a franchise wide receiver; they obviously have one of the best right ends in the game; they have a solid offensive line this year; Jonathan Taylor could take so much pressure off of whoever that quarterback is."
Jonathan Taylor is Having a Standout 2026 Season
Jennings also said that with the Giants leading the NFC East, adding Taylor could be the move that puts them over the top. New York is the only team in the division that has a winning record.
Taylor has spent his entire career with the Indianapolis Colts, and the team is currently 2-6. Taylor has had a strong 2026 season, posting 610 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns in eight games.
Skattebo missed Wednesday's practice due to the hamstring injury. In the Giants' previous game, Skattebo rushed for 124 yards and one touchdown in the Giants' 27-21 overtime win over the Houston Texans. In Skattebo's rookie season last year, he rushed for 418 yards and two touchdowns before suffering a season-ending ankle injury.
