The Miami Dolphins finally got into the win column, edging the New York Jets 28-25 at MetLife Stadium on Sunday. Miami struck quickly, scoring twice in the first quarter to build an early 14-7 lead, then added another touchdown before halftime to take a 21-7 lead. Quarterback Malik Willis finished 14 of 21 for 208 yards and two passing touchdowns, along with a rushing score, while running back Ollie Gordon II led the ground game with 103 yards and one touchdown on 25 carries.

The loss was especially damaging for the Jets, who have now lost two straight and dropped five of their last six games, only knocking off the then-winless Titans in Week 1 before narrowly beating the Browns 17-12 a few weeks later. Sunday's loss didn't sit well with one of the team's best players either, Garrett Wilson, who was seen visibly frustrated on the sideline with Jets quarterback Geno Smith late in the game.

With just under nine minutes left in the fourth quarter and the Jets trailing 21-17, New York failed to turn a promising red-zone possession into a touchdown. The offense was stopped three times inside Miami's five-yard line and had to settle for a field goal. Cameras then caught Wilson reaming out Smith on the sideline, while the veteran quarterback sat on the bench and didn't engage with his receiver.

Smith had some good moments Sunday, completing 23 of 30 passes for 287 yards and three touchdowns, but also threw an interception in the second quarter that put an end to another promising drive. Smith has now thrown interceptions in back-to-back weeks, with the Jets dropping both games.

Wilson, meanwhile, finished with just two catches for 26 yards and no touchdowns. It was his lowest receiving total of the season, and his second game with under 30 receiving yards. Not what you expect from a player widely viewed as one of the best in the game.

The loss drops the Jets to 2-5 and makes their path back into the AFC East race very difficult. The Bills sit atop the division at 5-1, with the Patriots narrowly behind them at 4-3. New York is just a game up on Miami, who now hold the edge in head-to-head.

Next up, the Jets will host the Raiders before taking on the Chiefs in Kansas City and the Bills at MetLife; a brutal stretch for a team that needs to get their season back on track.
