Seemingly every San Francisco 49ers fan can’t wait until they no longer have to hear about troubled wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk and his theatrical behavior.
Aiyuk has spent the entire offseason taking shot after shot at the 49ers via social media in a blatant attempt to force his release so he can sign with the Washington Commanders — a team he hasn’t been shy about wanting to play for.
It seems like every week, there’s a new layer to the Aiyuk-49ers feud, and during an appearance on “Chris Simms Unbuttoned,” tight end George Kittle gave a behind-the-scenes look at how everyone else in the 49ers’ locker room may perceive the situation.

“I feel like I know basically everything that’s happened and what’s going on, and I can’t share all of that cause it’s not my business to share or tell, but I just want to let you know that I feel like the 49ers have done a very good job throughout the entire process and have tried,” Kittle said.

...
“Kyle (Shanahan) has tried, John (Lynch) has tried, teammates have tried, and this is where we are. I think the organization itself has done a really good job. Like I said, I know plenty of things and I don’t ever want to single out a player, I don’t want ever want to point a finger at anybody, but I’ve been here for 10 years and I’ve been treated with nothing but respect and love my entire career.”
Kittle's remarks confirm what most have suspected this entire time — Aiyuk is the one making this situation worse than it has to be.
San Francisco held onto Aiyuk as long as it has in an attempt to try and get at least a draft pick back for him. However, his social media tirades have scared off any potential suitors.
There’s no urgency for the 49ers to release Aiyuk either as he’s currently on the reserve/left squad list and isn’t actually drawing a salary. The team also voided all of Aiyuk’s guaranteed money last season, costing him more than $27 million next season.
