The undefeated San Francisco 49ers entered Sunday's Week 7 matchup versus the 2-4 Atlanta Falcons as the favorites.

The 49ers wanted to keep their undefeated streak alive.

The Falcons put up a good fight, though, one the 49ers maybe weren't expecting.

After the half, San Francisco never led again as Atlanta scored a touchdown, then intercepted quarterback Brock Purdy, then scored another touchdown to go up 26-14. The 49ers put up one more touchdown and missed the extra point, but the Falcons intercepted them again to hold onto the lead.

However, the 49ers were attempting a tough comeback in the fourth quarter being down 29-20. Purdy threw a short pass to tight end George Kittle, who converted it for a 22-yard play. But, Kittle ended up fumbling the ball with 47 seconds left to end the ball game. A costly mistake on a day filled with multiple turnovers for the 49ers.

The irony of Kittle's mistake is that Sunday marks National Tight Ends Day in the NFL, and Kittle is seen as one of the best tight ends in the league right now. This mistake doesn't define his career or his abilities by any means, but the fumble came on an unfortunate day.

The loss didn't impact the 49ers too much as they still sit on top of the NFC West at 6-1 over the 3-3 Seattle Seahawks. San Francisco will go on to play the Las Vegas Raiders next Sunday in attempt to get back onto a winning streak.

The only two remaining undefeated teams include the Minnesota Vikings (6-0 after beating the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday) and the Kansas City Chiefs (5-0 ahead of playing the Seahawks on Sunday night).
