Following a record-setting performance in relief of Jameis Winston in their Week 6 loss to the New Orleans Saints, second-year quarterback JJ McCarthy is set to receive his first starting opportunity with his new team in their Week 7 game. One former teammate believes McCarthy has all of the talent to thrive in his new starting role.
In just one quarter of action, McCarthy threw for 243 yards, leading the Giants on a furious comeback in the game. While the Giants didn't come away with a w in, the organization clearly believes that McCarthy provided enough of a spark to warrant another opportunity in Week 7.

Former Minnesota Vikings star wide receiver Adam Thielan is also quite complimentary of McCarthy's ability, singing McCarthy's praises during a recent interview with the New York Post prior to the Giants' Week 7 game.
"Honestly, the best thing he does is the deep ball," said Thielen. "He throws the best deep ball that I have seen in a long time. It is incredible. It's quite the statement to say that McCarthy is the best deep ball thrower he has seen. Especially coming from someone like Thielen, who has seen his fair share of quarterback play in his 12-year NFL career.
McCarthy and the Giants offense will certainly be put to the test against a Houston Texans team looking to continue a two-game winning streak and further battle back in the AFC South.
