JJ McCarthy led the New York Giants to victory in his first start with the team this past weekend, taking down the Houston Texans on the road.
The Giants acquired McCarthy in a blockbuster trade with the Minnesota Vikings earlier this year, responding to the season-ending knee injury for QB Jaxson Dart. After a couple weeks in New York, McCarthy took over the starting job from veteran signal caller Jameis Winston.
McCarthy completed 20 of his 28 pass attempts for 252 yards in Sunday's overtime victory over the Texans, effectively leading the Giants offense.

McCarthy was recently asked about his comfort level moving forward as the Giants' starting QB.
"For sure. Just overall, regardless of team, I feel such a different peace going out there on the field every single time I step out there just being in Year 2 now of playing," McCarthy said, via team insider Jordan Raanan of ESPN.
The Giants are 4-2-1 on the season and 1-0 with McCarthy as starting quarterback. They now enter their Week 8 bye, giving them extra time to prepare for Week 9's matchup against the division-rival Philadelphia Eagles.
