The New York Jets season is off to quite the disappointing start.

A brutal two-point loss in Week 1 followed by a 20-point loss in Week 2 has New York at 0-2 and questioning the direction of the season. Even worse, the Jets lost Justin Fields on Sunday due to a concussion.

Fields' status for Week 3 is up in the air and because of that, New York is prepping veteran quarterback Tyrod Taylor in case he is needed Sunday.

"We have to get more information so we can be more pinpointed on that, but we do have to look at it that way," said Jets head coach Aaron Glenn via ESPN's Rich Cimini. "If Justin can't play, then Tyrod would be the guy, and we'd build a plan that's suitable for him."

Taylor is a longtime veteran, as this season is his 15th in the NFL and second straight with the Jets. Taylor entered Sunday's game after the injury to Fields and performed well.

He completed seven of his 11 pass attempts for 56 yards and added a touchdown pass. He also carried the ball three times for 21 yards, just eight less yards than the disappointing 29 yards from running back Breece Hall.

Taylor has been around long enough for New York to feel comfortable making a game plan for him and trusting him to execute it properly. It is a much different than putting together a gameplan for an inexperienced backup quarterback.

Prepping for Taylor to start may turn out to be all for nothing if Fields clears concussion protocol and is able to play. If not, though, the Jets will have an experienced quarterback leading them and hoping to avoid an 0-3 start.
