Joe Buck seemingly took a shot at Troy Aikman as the two are likely headed for a breakup.

Jimmy Traina of Underscore reflected on when he had Buck on his podcast earlier this year. Traina spoke on one thing Buck said ahead of signing his new deal with ESPN.

"When I taped that podcast with Joe Buck, and I said... I think we were talking about their contract situations, and maybe we didn't know yet that Joe have signed," Traina said. "And I said, 'Could you imagine ever doing 'Monday Night Football' or working with someone other than Troy?'

"I remember in that moment being struck by the fact that not only did Joe say vehemently he could work with anyone, and he doesn't have to just work with Troy, but he didn't hesitate for half a second. When you look back on it, it's hard to believe do you think he already knew something was about to go down, and that was a tell. I have to say I do, and I thought that ever since."

Will Troy Aikman Be Back With Joe Buck in 2027?

Buck agreed to a new deal with ESPN in September. Aikman has yet to agree to a new contract, and his current deal runs until the end of the Super Bowl, which is on Feb. 14, 2027.

It was reported that the Buck and Aikman got into an argument before the "Monday Night Football" broadcast on Oct. 12 between the Los Angeles Rams and the Buffalo Bills. Aikman recently spoke about his future on ESPN, saying that he will be a "free agent" at the end of the season.

"There’s probably a time and a place for all that," Aikman said on 96.7 The Ticket in October, per USA Today. "I don’t know if now is the time. I don’t know if it’s hard to figure out kind of what happened. I’ll broadcast through this season, and I’ll be a free agent at the end of the year and kind of see what happens. I’m looking forward to whatever the rest of this season does hold and the Super Bowl and all that, and where my next landing spot may be."
