The Los Angeles Chargers had high hopes for their offense after bringing in Mike McDaniel as the team's new offensive coordinator this past offseason.

But now seven weeks into the 2026 season, McDaniel couldn't be off to a worse start.

The Chargers are 0-6 to begin the year, posting a league-worst 15 points per game across each of their losses. The Chargers' offense, led by quarterback Justin Herbert, is averaging just 287.2 total yards per contest.

Despite these offensive struggles, Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh confirmed that McDaniel will maintain his offensive play calling duties moving forward.

In response to this news, Herbert came to the defense of his OC.

“It’s not his fault. It’s our fault as an offense. We have to do our job. The guys are open. Plays are being made. It’s on us to run, to block, to catch, to throw. It’s on us as an offense," Herbert told reporters on Wednesday.
