Earlier this week, Brandon Aiyuk's newly-hired agent Drew Rosenhaus said his client submitted paperwork requesting his reinstatement with the San Francisco 49ers.
The 49ers placed Aiyuk on the reserve/left squad list late last season, and he hasn't played in an NFL game since suffering a torn ACL/MCL injury in October 2024. The 28-year-old wide receiver is in the midst of a long-standing dispute with the San Francisco organization, with whom he remains under contract.
Aiyuk reported to 49ers team facilities on Friday. According to reports, the NFL told Aiyuk that he needs to repay the 49ers $13 million he previously received in bonuses in order to be reinstated.

When asked about this situation on Friday, head coach Kyle Shanahan did not hide his feelings.
"No clue. Your guess is as good as mine," Shanahan replied when asked what he expects to happen. "I couldn't care less [what happens]."
The 49ers are rolling through the 2026 season, poised with a 6-1 record as they prepare for this coming Sunday's Week 9 matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders. The team suffered its lone loss of the year in Week 7, falling to the Atlanta Falcons before entering their Week 8 bye.

Sunday's Raiders-49ers clash will kick off at 4:25 p.m. ET.
