Thielen entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent for the Minnesota Vikings in 2013. After spending his rookie season on the practice squad, the former Minnesota State standout slowly began to carve out a key role in the Vikings' offense. He notched back-to-back Pro-Bowl selections in 2017 and 2018, surpassing 1,200 receiving yards in each of those campaigns.

After nine seasons in Minnesota, Thielen signed with the Carolina Panthers before the 2023 season. He returned to Minnesota for his second stint to start the 2025 season, but later signed with the Steelers for one last playoff run.

Thielen, 35, made his retirement plans clear when signing with Pittsburgh this past December.

"Since this past Spring, I knew this was going to be my last season playing in the National Football League," Thielen wrote in a statement at the time. "Given that, the Vikings allowed me the opportunity to go compete elsewhere for the last few weeks of my career."

Thielen finishes his NFL career with 704 catches for 8,497 yards and 64 touchdowns.
