New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel has run out of updates on rookie Gabe Jacas.
It's sort of difficult to obtain new information when you can't see the guy...
Jacas, the club's second-round draft pick, had yet to sign his contract and did not report for the start of training camp on Saturday at Gillette Stadium. Vrabel was asked if anything was expected to change on the contract front not that practices have begun, but didn't have much to offer up in terms of an update.

"No (update)," Vrabel told reporters Saturday, per team-provided video. "Not today. Not with Gabe. Not yet. Not from when we met yesterday. I do not think that Gabe is local, no."
Vrabel, to his credit, did offer up some significant updates just one day prior.
"Continuing to work through the contract," Vrabel said on Friday. "I think those conversations have been positive, obviously between the club and his representative. Hopefully we'll get him in here sooner rather than later. Not going to put a timeline on it or a timeframe. But I've spoken to Gabe personally and I'm excited to get him in when he's under contract."

It's sort of funny at this point, though, because they came to a resolution immediately after he stepped foot off the dais at One Patriot Place...
Jacas agreed to sign his a four-year, $8.6M rookie contract on Saturday, according to Jordan Schultz.
Jacas is expected to be quite possibly the only significant rookie contributor for New England in 2026, as first-round offensive tackle Caleb Lomu is slotted in behind veterans Will Campbell and Morgan Moses, third-round tight end Eli Raridon is slotted in behind veteran Hunter Henry, and fifth-round cornerback Karon Prunty projects to be fighting for a spot behind Christian Gonzalez, Carlton Davis III, and Marcus Jones. Jacas was thought as a potential day-one starter alongside Dre'Mont Jones, especially with there being uncertainty regarding the immediate and long-term future of Harold Landry III.
If there was ever a time to get this thing done, it was early enough for him to get into training camp. They got there, though it wasn't without drama.
