Joe Burrow wants to win the Lombardi Trophy.
That's it.
When all the commotion around the Cincinnati Bengals superstar quarterback is broken down piece by piece, that is the lasting through point which drives Burrow.

If the Bengals can get him back to the Super Bowl, he'd be happy to be their signal-caller for the rest of time. But if they can't, as they haven't been able to with one of the worst defenses in football these past few years, you get what you saw from Burrow at the end of the season.
Unhappy, quiet, going through the motions.
And apparently, one team in the NFC has zeroed in on Burrow's melancholy attitude and might be planning to attempt one of the biggest blockbuster trades in the NFL since the Los Angeles Rams traded Jared Goff to the Detroit Lions for Matthew Stafford.
Grant Cohn, longtime San Francisco 49ers beat reporter and writer for Sports Illustrated, discussed what a source tells him could be an offer that the Bengals might consider for their kingpin under center.

While discussing whether the Niners could make a massive deal of their own for Justin Jefferson, his source close to the Minnesota Vikings told Cohn that they aren't looking to rebuild. Instead, the team that went 14-3 one season ago with Sam Darnold wants to be aggressive to return to the top of the NFC standings by going after Burrow.
Cohn said the offer would be for rookie QB J.J. McCarthy to go to Cincy, along with former Pro Bowl defensive end Jonathan Greenard and multiple first-round picks.
The move would be a sign that the Bengals are looking to embark on a complete rebuild and believe their current core can't return to the postseason. Unlike the Lions with Goff, however, McCarthy hasn't shown he can be a starting QB in the NFL and could be more of a detriment than anything for a team that made the Super Bowl in 2022 and has been trying to find its way back since the loss to Stafford and the Rams.
While this might be what the Vikings call the Bengals' offer, there are no signs that Cincinnati wants to trade its key player, who is still under contract for several more years.
But that's what people thought when Goff and Stafford were also under contract with their respective teams, so you never know in the NFL.
One day, it's a rumor by a third-party team source on social media. Next, the entire league landscape has changed with a post from Adam Schefter at 2:00 AM.
