The San Francisco 49ers are having an excellent start to the season, as they have a perfect 6-0 record.

With the way the 49ers are playing this campaign, it is clear that they will be buyers ahead of the NFL trade deadline. Now, they are being linked to a star defensive tackle because of it.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the 49ers could look to reunite with Indianapolis Colts defensive tackle DeForest Buckner ahead of the trade deadline.

DeForest Buckner

...

"One team that could decide to make a run at Colts DT DeForest Buckner is the San Francisco 49ers, a team the star defensive tackle played for from 2016 through 2019, according to league sources," Schefter posted on X.

With the 49ers defense needing a boost, it is not too surprising to see them being linked to Buckner. He is a player they already know incredibly well. This is because he played his first four seasons with the 49ers from 2016 to 2019. Thus, it would make a lot of sense for San Francisco to try to bring him back.

Buckner would be a major pickup for the 49ers if acquired. He is still a very good player at this point in his career and would undoubtedly give San Francisco's roster a boost because of it.

In six games this season with the Colts, Buckner has posted four sacks to go along with 26 sacks.
