Former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles criticized the detail in the team’s offense, arguing on his podcast that some Big 12 college offenses were more precise than Philadelphia’s NFL scheme.

The Eagles (2-6) have lost six straight games after winning their first two. Foles and co-host Evan Moore reviewed their 27-10 loss to the Washington Commanders on the Nov. 4 episode of The SZN with Nick Foles and Evan Moore.

Foles’s criticism centered on coaching decisions and execution. He described players ending up in the wrong places and questioned whether the calls suited the personnel available to Philadelphia.

His argument was that coaches should adjust the game plan to what their players can execute. When an assignment does not fit the player asked to carry it out, he said, the staff should find another approach rather than rely on what the offense might do with different personnel.

“It’s the little details from all the positions. The offenses in the Big 12 have more details than the Philadelphia Eagles’ offense in the National Football League. That’s a problem," Foles said. "To look at the numbers, and everyone was so tough on Kevin Patullo last year, but Kevin Patullo’s offense was way better than this offense.”

Philadelphia has gained 2,122 net offensive yards through eight games, ranking last in the NFL at 265.3 yards per game. The Eagles are averaging 4.4 yards per play and have converted 41 of 110 third downs, or 37.3%.

Philadelphia also ranks 29th in scoring at 17.1 points per game. The Giants enter Sunday at 4-2-1, averaging 23.3 points and 346 yards per game, 11th in the NFL.

The Washington loss was Philadelphia’s third consecutive defeat by at least 11 points. The Eagles lost 25-14 to Carolina and 38-21 to Dallas before scoring 10 points against the Commanders.

Philadelphia hosts the New York Giants on Sunday, Nov. 8, at Lincoln Financial Field. The game is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET on FOX, and the Eagles have their Week 10 bye afterward.
