The Carolina Panthers selected running back Jonathon Brooks with a second-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

But so far, the franchise has yet to see a return on that investment.

Brooks missed the majority of his rookie season due to an ACL tear he suffered during his final collegiate season with the Texas Longhorns. He returned to action in Week 14, but suffered another ACL tear on the same knee just three weeks later — causing him to miss his entire second season.

On Thursday, Brooks took the field with no restrictions for his first ever training camp practice.

Panthers head coach Dave Canales is pleased with what he saw from his running back.

“Really looking forward to just the hard work that JB has had to do over the last couple of years to get him to this point,” Canales said, via AtoZ Sports. “He feels great, he feels strong, he looks fast. He looks like the guy that I remember and I’m really excited for that.

“For a guy to go through things and to be able to have the emotional, mental, resiliency to go through that training twice to get himself back, this is a celebration. You can feel the gratitude on him, you can feel the focus, and how important this opportunity is for him.”
