Maxx Crosby was moments away from becoming a Baltimore Raven, and then everything fell through.

The Las Vegas Raiders agreed to trade Crosby to the Ravens, but the deal collapsed after he failed his physical due to long-term concerns over his meniscus surgery in January. Baltimore voided the trade just hours before the new league year opened, and just like that, Crosby was on a flight back to Vegas.

But now he's fully healed and at Raiders training camp, ready to recommit to the franchise. He's also apparently even more motivated heading into the 2026 NFL season after the whole situation.

"Maxx Crosby is healthy, he's energized, he's fired up, and it feels like the whole trade debacle between the Ravens and the Raiders has given Maxx Crosby a newfound sense of motivation to showcase to the entire NFL landscape, 'I'm still one of those special ones in terms of rushing the passer and just being a terror on the defensive side,'" said CBS Sports' Bryant McFadden on Wednesday.

"Watching him today, it was kind of confusing to think back and hear some of the things they were saying about the injury because he is moving around like he is in Year 2 of his professional career," McFadden added. "He is a tone setter. Everything starts and stops with Maxx Crosby."

Crosby has been a pillar for the Raiders from the moment he got drafted in 2019. Since that point, he's earned five Pro Bowl nods, two All-Pro honors, and is already third all-time in franchise history in career sacks with 69.5.

Across 110 games with the Raiders, Crosby has 439 combined tackles, 133 tackles for loss, 164 quarterback hits, 11 forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries, in addition to the sack total, establishing himself as one of the game's most explosive edge rushers.

And now heading into 2026, he won't have to do it all by himself.

Las Vegas had a busy offseason and loaded up on the defensive side of the ball, bringing in linebackers Nakobe Dean and Quay Walker, cornerback Taron Johnson, and adding multiple defensive backs through the draft, including second-round safety Treydan Stukes.

Add in a full year of development for Ashton Jeanty, a healthy Brock Bowers, No. 1 overall pick Fernanzo Mendoza, and a new system under offensive-minded head coach Klint Kubiak, and the Raiders already feel well-positioned for a much-improved 2026 season.
