The Los Angeles Rams are all in.
On Feb. 5, 38-year-old quarterback Matthew Stafford accepted the 2025 NFL MVP and, during his acceptance speech, confirmed that he will return to the Rams for at least one more season. The Rams know their Stafford window is slim, and they're approaching this offseason like 2026 will be their best shot at recapturing Super Bowl glory for a while.
On Wednesday, Los Angeles traded for Kansas City Chiefs All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie. The Rams sent the Chiefs one of their 2026 first-round draft picks (No. 29), a fifth-round pick, a sixth-round pick, and a 2027 third-round pick in exchange for the 25-year-old blue-chipper. (We know what Rams general manager Les Snead would say about losing four picks.)

The McDuffie move would have been enough of a splash. Cornerback was, by far, the Rams' most glaring need, and they addressed it before the 2026 NFL Draft on April 23. Not to mention, acquiring McDuffie made the Rams DraftKings Sportsbook's new favorite to win Super Bowl LXI in their home stadium next season (via Rams Wire).
But the Rams weren't done.

...
On Friday morning, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Mike Garafolo, and Tom Pelissero jointly reported that the Rams have agreed on a deal with Kamren Curl. The 26-year-old safety will return to the Rams on a three-year contract worth up to $36 million. Per Garafolo, the contract has a maximum value of $39 million.
The Rams also signed safety Quentin Lake to an extension on New Year's Day.
Curl has had an admirable journey to becoming a formidable player. The Washington Commanders drafted Curl out of Arkansas in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He posted a career-high three interceptions as a rookie and was a solid player for Washington, but Rams defensive coordinator Chris Shula fully unlocked him. Los Angeles signed Curl to a two-year, $13 million contract in March 2024.
Curl had a career year in Los Angeles last season. He started every game and tallied two interceptions, five passes defensed, two sacks, one forced fumble, and 122 tackles. That all led to his 10th-highest grade among safeties by Pro Football Focus.
The Athletic's Daniel Popper ranked Curl at No. 23 on his list of top impending free agents. Popper noted, in part, "url is capable at all three levels of the field, and he can fit into a multitude of schemes and roles. He is an elite run defender when rotated into the box, especially when playing off the edge."
With McDuffie now in the fold, Curl will be even freer to roam.
