Head coach Jesse Minter is offering few clues about when the two-time MVP could return. With the team's season slipping away, the latest update does little to ease concerns about its franchise quarterback.

Jackson's right thumb injury has become a major setback for Baltimore. He suffered it on the opening offensive play of the Ravens' 36-10 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Nov. 1, just as he was returning from a three-game absence with an ankle injury.

Surgery was recommended, and the team initially left open the possibility that his season could be over.

When asked specifically whether Jackson had undergone thumb surgery and whether there was any clarity on a possible late-season return, Minter kept his response brief.

“I'm not going to speak on that,” as per Jamison Hensley.

The coach also addressed the challenge facing the rest of the roster, insisting that injuries cannot become an excuse for the team's performances.

“Obviously it's a tough situation for our guys. But, I just told them there's no excuses. There's no whatever, we don't have this guy, we don't have that guy. We've got to make a decision again over this break, got a little bit of a break for the guys to mentally reset and come back and seek improvement in all three phases. That's what we'll be after,” Minter said, per Bleacher Report.

Baltimore's problems were evident against Jacksonville. Rookie Joe Fagnano completed just 10 of 18 passes for 60 yards and threw two interceptions in his first NFL start. The Ravens fell to 4-5 after suffering their fourth consecutive loss.
