Settle in for the latest episode of The Young and the Restless, otherwise known as the ongoing trade talks surrounding Philadelphia Eagles star wide receiver A.J. Brown.

Brown has indeed been restless in Philadelphia, despite posting at least 1,000 yards receiving in each of his four seasons with the Eagles since the team acquired him from Tennessee during the 2022 NFL Draft. The 28-year-old wasn't satisfied after the Eagles' blowout Super Bowl LIX win, which capped the 2024 season. "My thrill for this game comes when I dominate," Brown wrote, in part, in February 2025.

Brown publicly vented his frustrations with his role in the Eagles' sluggish offense last season, and The Athletic's Dianni Russini reported last October that Brown and Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts were "not that close these days." But Brown might have no choice but to figure it out in Philly.

A.J. Brown #11 of the Philadelphia Eagles

"I've had some conversations with sources informed of what's happening there," NFL Network's Mike Garafolo said on Good Morning Football this morning. "My understanding is teams are making offers to the Eagles for a trade, and to this point, they have not gotten to the point at which the Eagles would make the move. In their mind, it's a Quinnen Williams-type deal. We're talking a potential first-round pick with a second-round sweetener on it. That's kind of where it is for the Eagles to start to consider moving A.J. Brown."

Garafolo continued, "If they don't get close to that point or to that point, I don't think [Eagles general manager] Howie Roseman moves him. I think he keeps A.J. Brown in the fold. He's a really good player. He is highly valued inside that building. Now, right now, all the money that's committed to A.J., if he remains with the team, is affecting their ability to sign other free agents. Like, they'd love to have [tight end] Dallas Goedert back right now, but they don't know necessarily whether or not they're [...] going to have to pay A.J. Brown."

For reference, the Cowboys traded a 2026 second-round pick, 2027 first-round pick, and defensive tackle Mazi Smith to the New York Jets in exchange for All-Pro defensive tackle Quinnen Williams at the Nov. 4 trade deadline last year.

Garafolo's reporting is supported by previous reports regarding Brown's situation.

On Sunday, ESPN's Dan Graziano reported the Eagles' "asking price remains too high." ESPN's Jeremy Fowler added, "A few teams I consulted believe a trade package including a second-round pick is his true trade value. Would that be enough to lure him from Philadelphia? I'm not sure that gets it done for Eagles GM Howie Roseman."

Similarly, ESPN's Adam Schefter joined The Pat McAfee Show on Monday and said, "I think A.J. Brown and Maxx Crosby are in a similar situation. Both teams not wanting to deal their guys, both teams open to listening, and both teams have to have an offer that they can't say no to."

A frequently floated destination for Brown has been the New England Patriots because head coach Mike Vrabel was the Tennessee Titans' head coach when the Titans took Brown in the second round of the 2019 NFL draft. Vrabel was reportedly upset when Tennessee shipped Brown to Philadelphia. Brown told Rob Gronkowski and Julian Edelman on their Dudes on Dudes podcast last month that he initially hated Vrabel but eventually came to appreciate him. However, the Boston Herald's Andrew Callahan and Doug Kyed reported last week that the Patriots "feel the asking price is unserious" for Brown.

As for the Dallas Goedert component, NBC Sports' Matthew Berry has reported that the Eagles "will definitely be moving on" from the 31-year-old tight end.
