The New York Jets haven't made the playoffs since Rex Ryan led them to the AFC Championship Game 15 years ago.
They took the first step toward snapping that drought with an impressive Week 1 victory over the Tennessee Titans.
The Jets left Nashville with a 23-10 win in a thoroughly one-sided contest. They tallied 367 yards to Tennessee's 195 behind an efficient outing in Geno Smith's return.

Ryan liked what he saw from his old team. The former Jets head coach commended their season-opening performance behind new offensive coordinator Frank Reich on Monday's Get Up.
"Look at all those explosive pass plays. Amazing how that happens right there," Ryan said. "You got a real coaching staff right there. Frank Reich, congratulations. That offense was amazing. This was the 32nd-ranked team in passing last year. Didn't look like it."
The Jets relied on a heavy ground attack led by 102 rushing yards and a touchdown from Breece Hall. They opened Aaron Glenn's second season with a win at the expense of his predecessor, Titans head coach Robert Saleh.
Ryan took a shot at Saleh while anticipating better days ahead for Gang Green.

"They bloodied their nose," Ryan added. "They ran it right down that old superstar coach of yours that everyone was like, 'Why'd they fire him?' I don't know, 35 win percentage. He got smoked right there by the Jets, and we're back. The Jets are back!"
It's too early to truly say whether the Jets are back, but it's certainly a better beginning than last year's 0-7 start. The Jets didn't notch any of their three victories by more than seven points last season, so Sunday marked their most lopsided win since Week 3 of the 2024 campaign.
The Jets could excite Ryan and fans even more when they host the Green Bay Packers in Week 2.
