Ryan Clark doesn't like how ESPN is handling things with Troy Aikman, whose contract is set to expire soon.

On this week's episode of "The Pivot," Clark shared his thoughts on Aikman's contract situation. The former ESPN personality believes the network favors Joe Buck over Aikman since Buck recently signed a contract extension.

“Somebody is trying to make Troy Aikman look like the bastard son,” Clark said. “You mention the leaks, I’ve been around there. I know how it starts to happen when they’re trying to build a narrative about you. I’ve been around there. I know what it is when they’ll have your back and support you through anything, even when you’re wrong, when they’ll come out and make a statement, we’re fully behind this guy. They haven’t done that with Troy.

Ryan Clark Feels ESPN Is Making Troy Aikman the 'Bad Guy'

"I do feel like there’s a push to make him be the bad guy, whether he is or not. I know they have ways of maneuvering to protect him. And I know they have ways of putting people in positions where a narrative is built around them, so when they make their exit, they can seem like the good guy. Because I was a part of that.”

The contract situation has led to behind-the-scenes conflicts between Buck and Aikman. The two have been together for over two decades, going back to their time at Fox.

In 2022, Buck and Aikman joined ESPN to call "Monday Night Football" games. In September, Buck signed a reported six-year, $108 million contract extension.

Following Buck's contract extension, Andrew Marchand reported that ESPN will either start contract talks with Aikman after ESPN's first Super Bowl broadcast on Feb. 14 or move on. Buck and Aikman will call their seventh Super Bowl as a duo on Valentine's Day.
