The New Orleans Saints have decided to shake up their running back room ahead of their Week 9 matchup against the Cleveland Browns.
According to Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.football, the Saints have released fourth-year running back Kendre Miller.

The Saints selected Miller with the No. 71 overall pick in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft, and he has served as the team's primary backup running back, when healthy.
Unfortunately, that is exactly what Miller has struggled to be as he has never played in more than eight games through his first four years in the league.
The Saints reportedly tried to trade Miller ahead of Tuesday's 4 p.m. ET trade deadline as his rookie contract is set to expire at the end of the season, but there was clearly no interest, or enough to give up additional compensation.

Miller's release does seem to have come out of nowhere, but the Saints did recently claim running back Audric Estime off waivers from the Browns, adding to a room that already included Alvin Kamara, CJ Donaldson, and Travis Etienne Jr., who is on injured reserve with a Grade 1 left hamstring strain.
Miller has 184 career carries for 656 yards and five touchdowns, averaging 3.6 yards per carry. He also has 29 catches for 217 yards.
He played college football at TCU, where he rushed for 1,399 yards and 17 touchdowns and was named first-team All-Big 12 in 2022.
