The Seattle Seahawks are set to take on the Arizona Cardinals in Week 9 and do so without starting quarterback Sam Darnold, who was ruled out with a quad injury.

However, there is growing concern around the health status of backup quarterback Drew Lock.

Lock has been dealing with an elbow injury and was a limited participant on Wednesday’s injury report, but he affirmed on Thursday that his elbow is doing just fine.

“It’s doing good, doing good,” Lock said. “I’m excited to be back out there. It felt great to get under center and rip some balls yesterday. So, it feels good.”

Lock's injury will still be worth monitoring up until kickoff on Sunday and even throughout the game because if he is unable to play, the Seahawks would be forced to turn to former 2025 third-round pick Jalen Milroe.

Meanwhile, Lock has already filled in quite nicely for Darnold two times this season, completing 35 of his 48 pass attempts for 422 yards, four touchdowns and zero interceptions.

That could be exactly why the Seahawks are so comfortable with sidelining Darnold this week so that he is healthy for the long run. With that said, every win matters in the NFC West as Seattle currently sits in second place with a 4-4 record. The San Francisco 49ers are in the top spot at 6-1.

A second-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, Lock has thrown for 6,769 yards, 38 touchdowns and 28 interceptions in his professional career.
