The Seattle Seahawks are set to take on the Arizona Cardinals in Week 9 with backup quarterback Drew Lock after starter Sam Darnold was ruled out with a quad injury. However, it turns out Lock is dealing with a bit of a serious injury of his own.

According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, Lock has been battling severe tendinitis in his throwing elbow, but the Seahawks are still comfortable with having him start on Sunday against the Cardinals after he looked good in limited practice reps this week.

It's good news that the Seahawks still feel comfortable in Lock's ability to play and play well this week, but this injury update is certainly a cause for concern, especially because it is affecting his throwing arm.

So, it will be worth monitoring up until kickoff on Sunday and even throughout the game because if he is unable to play, the Seahawks would be forced to turn to former 2025 third-round pick Jalen Milroe.

Lock has already filled in quite nicely for Darnold two times this season, completing 35 of his 48 pass attempts for 422 yards, four touchdowns and zero interceptions, but that was when he was healthy.

That could be why the Seahawks are so comfortable with rolling with him this week, though. Every win also matters in the NFC West as Seattle currently sits in second place with a 4-4 record. The San Francisco 49ers are in the top spot at 6-1.

A second-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, Lock has thrown for 6,769 yards, 38 touchdowns and 28 interceptions in his professional career.
