The NFL Draft Combine isn’t the be-all and end-all when it comes to evaluating prospects for the upcoming draft, but it remains a valuable tool for assessing athleticism and certain intangibles.

Each year, a handful of players really stand out, and this year, no athlete has turned heads quite like Arkansas Razorbacks quarterback Taylen Green.

Green spent his first three collegiate seasons at Boise State before transferring to Arkansas in 2024 as a redshirt junior. How his game will translate to the NFL at the quarterback position remains uncertain, but his athleticism is second to none at the position.

On Saturday, Green posted a 43.5-inch vertical jump, shattering the previous record held by Anthony Richardson. He also broke Richardson’s broad jump record with an 11-foot-2 mark. In addition to those two combine records, the 6-foot-6, 227-pound quarterback ran an eye-popping 4.37-second 40-yard dash, the second best among QB's ever.

"This guy is an absolute athletic freak," a fan said.

Someone else added, "This dude was the entire Arkansas offense."

Another person wrote, "The difference is that Taylen Green will be drafted on day 3 where AR should have been."

"Sounds like he’s been playing in the wrong position," one more fan commented.

It now begs the question of whether Green can translate those elite intangibles into becoming a competent quarterback at the NFL level — particularly when it comes to his arm talent, accuracy, and the mental processing required to succeed at the position in the pros.

According to Lance Zierlein of the NFL.com, Green is currently graded as a quality backup with the potential to develop into a starter, holding a 6.15 prospect grade.
