The Kansas City Chiefs have struggled to find any consistent rhythm this season, unable to string together multiple wins in a row.
After Sunday night’s 20-10 loss to the Houston Texans, during which they were shut out in the first half, the Chiefs fell to 6-7 overall and were mathematically eliminated from claiming the AFC West, ending a streak of 10 straight division titles.
Now firmly on the outside looking in for the playoffs, they still have four games remaining. If they win out, they could give themselves a fighting chance.

Despite the challenges, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce spoke candidly about his and the team’s outlook during the latest episode of the “New Heights” podcast released on Wednesday
"It's been a tough [explicit] go around the last 2 days," Kelce said. "You put in all this [explicit] work and hope that it pays off. Right now, it just - for whatever [explicit] reason, it's little things - I don't know. I feel like l've always had the answers in years past and this year I just can't find them … Obviously, looking at the playoffs, it's a tough reality to be in, especially with - I don't know, just how we've always found a way in years past. It's a [explicit] feeling, especially dropping the [explicit] ball late in the game like that when we were on our last [explicit] chance to make something shake. It's just a [explicit] feeling. You put in all this work to be there for your guys, and I just wasn't that."

Whether the Chiefs make the playoffs or not, it’s shaping up to be an important offseason for Travis Kelce. At 36, he’ll soon need to decide on his NFL future—whether that’s returning to Kansas City on a potential short-term deal, testing free agency, or retiring, an option he seriously considered after Super Bowl LIX last season.
Even though Kelce’s numbers have dipped from his peak, he remains one of the league’s most productive tight ends this season, totaling 60 receptions for 727 yards and five touchdowns.

Right now, Kansas City is banking on several scenarios to stay alive in the playoff race. Most of them start with the Chiefs needing to win their final four games.
From there, they would need the Chargers to lose at least three of their last four — including one against the Denver Broncos — or hope the Texans lose three of four. They also still have to leapfrog the 8-5 Colts, who are on the bubble as well.
It’s a long shot anyway you slice it, but the clearest path for Kansas City hinges on the Chargers stumbling down the stretch.
