The Kansas City Chiefs are coming off their first win of the season — a 22-9 victory over the New York Giants on Sunday night — improving to 1-2 heading into Week 4’s headline matchup against the Baltimore Ravens (1-2) in a rematch of the AFC Championship Game two seasons ago.

Kansas City has been shorthanded on the outside, with star receiver Rashee Rice suspended and second-year wideout Xavier Worthy sidelined since Week 1 after suffering a shoulder injury in a collision with tight end Travis Kelce.

Worthy is expected back this week, giving quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs' passing attack a much-needed boost.

In the meantime, a new weapon has stepped up for the Chiefs — former New England Patriots wide receiver Tyquan Thornton. On the latest episode of the "New Heights" podcast, Kelce applauded the Chiefs for adding an under-the-radar playmaker who's been coming up big for them.

“He was a steal,” Kelce said. “I don’t know how he got out of New England, man, but we’re appreciative that they let him go.”

Thornton, a second-round pick of the Patriots out of Baylor in 2022, spent three seasons in New England but never fully established a role, totaling just 39 receptions for 385 yards and two touchdowns during that span.

Since joining the Chiefs, Thornton has already scored twice in three games and delivered a strong performance against the Giants, hauling in five catches for 71 yards and a touchdown.

He’s emerged as Kansas City’s most productive offensive weapon so far, even outpacing Kelce, who has seen a dip from his usual production. Kelce has recorded just 10 receptions for 134 yards and one touchdown this season, but he's made it perfectly clear that as long as the team wins, he’s satisfied.

Sunday’s matchup against the Ravens will take place at Arrowhead Stadium, kicking off at 4:25 p.m. ET.

Both teams face early season stakes, looking to avoid falling into a 1-3 hole, which history shows doesn't bode well for teams' playoff chances — just 13.4% of NFL teams that have started 1-3 have made the playoffs.
