Super Bowl LX is just days away, and while both teams enter the contest relatively healthy aside from the usual wear and tear of the season, the Seattle Seahawks faced concerning news on Wednesday ahead of their showdown with the New England Patriots.
Seahawks star rookie safety Nick Emmanwori reportedly suffered an ankle injury late in practice while trying to defend a pass.
“He had an ankle injury today. We brought him in to look at it, and we’ll kind of go from here and figure out the next steps,” coach Mike Macdonald said following practice.

However, concerning footage surfaced on social media showing Emmanwori arriving back at his hotel Wednesday with a noticeable limp. On a positive note, he was walking under his own power and without a boot — a promising sign — even though he is now listed as questionable for Sunday. Coach Macdonald, however, said he is “confident” Emmanwori will play.

Emmanwori has been one of the catalysts for the Seahawks’ defense this season and is a key reason they’ve advanced as far as they have — winning the NFC and earning a trip to the Super Bowl.
He recorded 56 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and one interception this year. Drafted in the second round out of South Carolina, Emmanwori also earned praise from NFL legend Tom Brady, who named him Defensive Rookie of the Year in his “LFG Awards.
"Nick Emmanwori, what an animal this guy is," said Brady. "He's big, he's fast, he's physical. He made some game-changing plays last Sunday in the championship game, covering people, knocking balls away, pass defense, tackles in the run game, aggressive in his run fits. This guy has a very bright future."
