Lewis said the injury occurred after Addison leaped for a contested ball and was hobbling off with the help of trainers. Teammates went over to give high-fives, and Vikings star wide receiver Justin Jefferson patted him on the helmet.

The severity of the injury is yet unknown. Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell will provide an update to the media after practice.

Addison was set to take a massive leap this season after one year under his belt. While he was productive in his rookie season, he was looking to take the next step in his sophomore season after recording 70 receptions for 911 yards, 10 touchdowns, and an average of 13.0 yards per reception in year one.

It's been a rough training camp for the Vikings, as we learned earlier on Wednesday that their rookie quarterback, J.J. McCarthy, will be out for the rest of the year following surgery to repair the meniscus. The surgery took place on Wednesday, and he is expected to be back come the 2025 season.

These two were considered the future of the Vinkings alongside Jefferson. Now, one will miss his rookie season, and the other has been carted off and could miss some time. Besides this apparent injury, Addison has had a wild offseason.

Just last week, Addison was charged with DUI with a hearing set for Oct. 7. The plea hearing will be in Los Angeles County Superior Court, stemming from his citation last month from suspicion of driving under the influence.

Addison was charged with two misdemeanors — one for being under the influence of alcohol and driving with .08 percent blood alcohol content. The 22-year-old could face an NFL suspension once the legal proceedings are complete. If that is the case, and worse comes to worse with this apparent injury, Addison can miss an even lengthy amount of time.

Last month, Addison was asked to comment on his legal troubles and had this to say to ESPN.

"I'm just going to keep learning. I'm saying that's all I can do, is just learn from my mistakes and keep moving forward. That's what it is."

This incident comes a year after he was cited for driving 140 miles per hour on a freeway in Minnesota. Addison ultimately pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor speeding charge, with a charge of reckless driving dismissed, and paid $686 in fines.

The Vikings drafted the wide receiver with the No. 23 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft from the University of Southern California.
