The Chicago Bears will host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on "Sunday Night Football" tonight on primetime.
The NBC crew will be without play-by-play announcer Mike Tirico, though.
Tirico posted a statement on social media on Sunday afternoon sharing that he will miss the primetime game because of a "health issue." Tirico did not disclose the health issue, but it must not be too serious as he intends to return to the broadcast booth next Sunday for the Cincinnati Bengals versus Pittsburgh Steelers game.

"Unfortunately, I will have to miss tonight's game in Chicago due to a health issue. I look forward to watching tonight and can't wait to be back with Cris [Collinsworth], Melissa [Stark] and the rest of our SNF team next Sunday night in Cincinnati."
Noah Eagle will step in for Tirico on Sunday night to call the game alongside analyst Cris Collinsworth and sideline reporter Melissa Stark.
Eagle typically calls NBC's college football games. He just called Saturday night's showdown between Miami and Notre Dame. So, it worked out that Eagle was only a couple hours away from Chicago since he was in South Bend, Indiana, the night before. Eagle has experience calling NFL games, too, including for Netflix.

Tirico has never missed working a "Sunday Night Football" game since taking over for Al Michaels in 2022. He even notably still called a game in 2024 after tearing his Achilles tendon.
It is cold and flu season, so it's possible Tirico could just be under the weather on Sunday, especially since it was a last-minute cancellation from him for Sunday's game.
