The wait is finally over.

The Los Angeles Sparks will be officially retiring DeLisha Milton-Jones' jersey during a halftime ceremony when the Sparks host the New York Liberty on Tuesday night. Milton-Jones helped the Sparks win their first two WNBA championships in 2001 and 2002.

“Moments like this are well worth the wait,” Milton-Jones said when her jersey retirement was announced in April. “I’m filled with pure joy and gratitude knowing my day has come to receive flowers of this magnitude for the legacy I’ve left within the game of basketball and the Sparks organization. I’m honored to be recognized in this way and incredibly elated to take my place in the rafters alongside my forever teammates Penny Toler, Lisa Leslie and Candace Parker. Ephesians 3:20 reminds us that if you wait on the Lord, He will give you exceedingly and abundantly more than you ask for. Just be patient and trust Him!”

Milton-Jones Admits She Started Losing Hope For Her Jersey Retirement

Before Milton-Jones, the Sparks retired the jerseys of Penny Toler (2006), Lisa Leslie (2010) and Candace Parker (2025).

Milton-Jones, who played her last game with the Sparks in 2012, admitted she was not sure if the franchise would ever follow through with retiring her jersey. Ahead of Tuesday's halftime ceremony, she said she is grateful to finally be individually recognized in that way.

"To get that call and to know that they weren't faking it, and it is legit, and it is going to happen and plans are being made, I am overjoyed," Milton-Jones said, per Nick Hamilton on X. "... I may have been snubbed when it came to All-Stars or came to All-WNBA, 75 teams and different things like that but that (getting her jersey retired) speaks for itself."
