It was announced on Monday by the WNBA that Game 6 of the 2026 WNBA Finals will be played at the 17,000-seat State Farm Arena on Thursday at 12:30 p.m. Eastern Time.

This move, as opposed to the many other options that were on the table, has infuriated Atlanta Dream fans – and basketball fans in general – due to the league deciding to move the game to the middle of a workday. This also puts game time early in the morning at 9:30 a.m. Pacific Time on the west coast, home of the Golden State Valkyries.

And they’re making their voices heard.

“This is so unserious,” one person said on X. “Having a basketball finals in the morning and the middle of weekdays. Guess that’s why they can’t make profits.”

“I give it 400k viewers tops,” another noted. “Middle of a work day.”

“Had to reschedule every single home game in the Finals for the Dream,” someone pointed out. “How is it that the league and the Dream completely failed to coordinate the venue with the Finals schedule to the point where all three games had to be changed?”

“Bigger arena is great, but 12:30 on a workday makes it so much harder for fans to actually be there,” one person said.

“Possibly a deciding game for your championship being played on a Thursday at 12:30pm is a failure of planning,” another pointed out.

The decision came after a frantic weekend of negotiations with the WNBA league, Dream franchise, Valkyries franchise and the Atlanta Hawks franchise. Thursday will be a double header with Game 6 followed by the Hawks, Cleveland Cavaliers matchup at 8:00 p.m. ET.
