Kevin Nash would like to see Je’Von Evans show more of an edge with his in-ring work. On the latest episode of his Kliq This podcast, the WWE Hall of Famer critiqued Evans as a performer, offering a mix of high praise and specific advice for the 21-year-old standout.

Nash mostly had good things to say about the rookie, singling out his top rope Diamond Cutter from "Raw" last week as the type of viral moment that WWE is currently looking for in the Netflix era. However, while he praised Evans’ athleticism and striking ability, Nash expressed a desire for Evans to lean more into the latter to prove he is a capable fighter rather than just a high-flyer.

"Mr. Bojangles" Critique

Nash used a colorful metaphor to describe what he feels is missing from Evans' presentation, suggesting that the young star's style is currently too theatrical.

“He’s an incredible athlete. He’s a little bit too f***ing Mr. Bojangles for me. I wish he was a little bit more urban,” Nash said. “I understand it’s Netflix. I understand there’s a big f***ing world out there besides the one that f***ing 66-year-old Detroit boy Kevin Nash wants, but I just want him to have a little bit of an edge.”

Realism In The Ring

The former WWE Champion urged Evans to use his striking ability to ground his high-flying moves in reality. Nash pointed to his friend Sean “X-Pac” Waltman as someone who excelled at showing this type of edge, delivering stiff, convincing strikes despite his smaller stature.

“But if he’s not going to have an edge, then — he knows how to throw, he can strike, he throws a good punch. F***ing take your time and throw a good punch. Maybe put two or three together,” Nash advised.

“Something where f***ing you tell me if this sh*t was real, all this athleticism I have, I can use. Not if this sh*t was real, motherf***er, I would cartwheel off your motherf***ing body like you would never see.”

Fans sounded off on Nash's comments via Twitter, as see below:

The Future Of Je'Von Evans

Despite the critique, Nash acknowledged Evans' immense potential, noting that "he sells good" and "does everything good." Evans is considered one of WWE’s top young prospects. After being called up from "NXT," he joined the "Raw" roster at the start of January and recently competed in his first "Royal Rumble" in Saudi Arabia.
