Stampede of Dogs Charging Out of Daycare Ends in Disaster: 'Wipeout'
Dramatic footage has captured the moment a stampede of excitable dogs ended up colliding in hilariously chaotic fashion as they made their way into the yard at their doggy daycare.
The video of the epic pooch pile-up was shared to TikTok by the Georgia-based Sawnee Dog Retreat and has already been viewed 13 million times online.
Playtime is hugely important to dogs. A 2015 study by researchers at Bristol University concluded that dogs use play "as a means of establishing relationships with other dogs, and can also derive social information from observing play between third parties."
They also found playing games like fetch enabled "the formation of emotionally-based bonds between dog and owner." So, like kids hearing the bell for recess at school, when it comes time to play, dogs are understandably excited.
But sometimes that excitement and sense of anticipation for what is to come can lead to pure chaos, as the video shared by Sawnee Dog Retreat demonstrates.
Eager to showcase the pooch-led pandemonium that unfolds when the various dogs being looked after at the retreat are let out into the yard, owner Rawson Livezey decided to set up a camera close to the yard entrance to capture the chaos.
The resulting footage captures the mayhem as a veritable army of dogs is let out to play. Bounding toward the camera, the clip is made all the more dramatic by the fact Livezey has slowed down the footage with Wagner's "Ride of the Valkyries" providing the perfect soundtrack to the spectacular scene.
The clip can be watched here.

What would have been a mesmerizing video showcasing dogs of every shape and size bouncing around in delight is given a further dramatic twist when two excited spaniels collide as they approach the camera.
The result is pet-based cinematic gold, and the kind of scene that wouldn't look out of place in a Hollywood blockbuster. Those sentiments were certainly echoed by those commenting on the video on social media.
Alice Nanami said the dramatic collision looked like something "straight out of a war film" while Kenneth McMillan dubbed the video "a masterpiece." Doboruchi felt the video was like a "trailer for a new Marvel movie" with aloft8106 asking: "Did JJ Abrams or Michael Bay direct this?"
Galaxis Hinata said the video reminded them of "Me and my siblings when my dad buys McDonald's." Kristen M. Harding, meanwhile, declared: "This is the greatest thing I've ever seen."
Heyitsron was in awe of the "cinematography" while Caitlin Hathcock provided the kind of review that wouldn't have looked out of place on the pages of Variety. "The drama! the action!" she wrote. "This is the best movie I've ever seen. We need more!!!!"
Posted to TikTok alongside the word "wipeout" Livezey was keen to stress to viewers that the dog taking a fall in the video was "ok."
