'Star Wars: Episode IX' Trailer Release Date: Premiere at Star Wars Celebration Panel Likely

The long-anticipated trailer for Star Wars: Episode IX probably, finally, has a release date. A newly announced Star Wars: Episode IX panel at this year's Star Wars Celebration in Chicago will include both the movie's director, J.J. Abrams, and Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy, Star Wars: Episode IX's executive producer, making it a prime candidate for the trailer premiere.

The Star Wars: Episode IX panel will be held on Friday, April 12.

Star Wars social media accounts promise "the panel you've been waiting for!"

The Star Wars Show had a few more details on Wednesday. "Episode IX is coming out at the end of this year, and wouldn't you know it, Star Wars: Episode IX is getting its very own panel at during Star Wars Celebration 2019," The Star Wars Show co-host Anthony Carboni said in the latest episode.

Co-host Andi Gutierrez describes the panel as "full of surprises and special guests, it will be sure to keep your imagination buzzing for the rest of the event."

The Friday, April 12 Star Wars: Episode IX panel will be presented on the convention's Celebration Stage and streamed to two other stages at the event. In previous years, the major Star Wars Celebration panels were also streamed online, though streaming details for Episode IX panel have yet to be announced.

While it's not a certainty that the trailer will premiere during the Episode IX panel, it's long been the most likely release date. Plus, unless Lucasfilm announces it in advance, the debut of the Episode IX trailer will double as the unveiling of the subtitle for the concluding chapter in the Star Wars saga.

Star Wars: Episode IX is out in theaters December 20.
