Stephanie Grisham: What Has Melania Trump Aide Picked For Press Secretary Said About Donald Trump In The Past? If Attacked, 'He Will Punch Back 10 Times Harder'

Stephanie Grisham, Melania Trump's spokeswoman, has been named as Donald Trump's new press secretary, becoming the third person to take on the role during his time as U.S. leader.

In a tweet Melania Trump said she and her husband could think of "no better person to serve the administration and our country."

"Excited to have Stephanie working for both sides of the White House," she said.

Of course, anyone planning to fill the shoes of Sarah Sanders, Trump's outgoing press secretary, will be expected to be a staunch defender of the U.S. leader, who is known to surround himself with his biggest supporters, while pushing more critical allies out the ever-revolving White House door.

In Grisham, the president appears to already have a staunch supporter and ally, which likely played no small part in his decision to pick her for the job.

Grisham has been quick to defend both the president and first lady in moments of controversy, with the spokeswoman hitting out at detractors when Melania Trump first came under fire for wearing a jacket with the words "I really don't care, do u?" while visiting migrant children at a detention facility in Texas.

"It's a jacket. There was no hidden message," Grisham had said at the time. "After today's important visit to Texas, I hope the media isn't going to choose to focus on her wardrobe."

Grisham's quickfire defense of the first lady has previously prompted The Washington Post to brand her "Melania's enforcer," in a profile published in December.

And while she will continue to serve as Melania Trump's spokeswoman, in addition to taking on the role of White House communications director, Grisham looks set to become the president's top "enforcer" too.

Since joining the Trump team as the billionaire launched his presidential bid in 2015, Grisham has been a prominent defender of the U.S. leader.

In June 2017, for example, after Trump came under fire for tweeting out that MSNBC host Mika Brzezinski was "bleeding badly from a facelift," Grisham was quick to leap to his defense, asserting that when the president "gets attacked, he will punch back 10 times harder."

The spokeswoman also came to Trump's defense after Ivana Trump called herself the "first Trump wife" and therefore "the first lady" while promoting a book last year, with Grisham branding the president's ex-wife "attention-seeking and self-serving."

Time and time again, Grisham has demonstrated her loyalty to the Trumps and her dedication has clearly not gone unnoticed, with the president praising her for doing a "fantastic job" as she was appointed press secretary.

"The first lady loves her, thinks she's been, you know, just incredible. She's very talented," Trump said.
