When Will the IRS 'Get My Payment' Stimulus Check App Launch?

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) says its Get My Payment app for the stimulus check will launch by April 17. It will become available on the IRS website via its Economic Impact Payments page.

The Get My Payment app will run in addition to the "Non-Filers: Enter Payment Info Here" tool for non-filers to submit their payment information so they can receive the stimulus check.

According to the IRS, the Get My Payment app will enable Americans to track their stimulus check.

Users will be able to see the status of their check and the expected payment date, either by direct deposit or in the form of a paper check to be mailed out.

There is also a feature to allow users to submit their bank account information so they can get the stimulus check directly and quickly rather than waiting for a paper check in the mail.

But be warned, if you want to receive your payment electronically then you must enter your payment information swiftly.

The IRS also states: "This feature will be unavailable if the Economic Impact Payment has already been scheduled for delivery."

The first batch of stimulus checks has been deposited into many Americans' accounts.

The IRS began depositing the payments on April 9, starting with those whose payment information it already had based on tax returns filed for 2018 and 2019.

The tax agency will then start direct deposits for people who have recently submitted their payment information to receive the stimulus checks.

Others will receive paper checks in the mail over the coming weeks and months, and poorer households will be prioritized.

You should use the Non-Filers: Enter Payment Info Here tool to submit your details if you did not file a tax return in 2018 or 2019 because your income was too low, or you were not required to do so for other reasons.

Non-filers who receive benefits—including recipients of social security, disability (SSDI), survivor benefits, and Railroad Retirement and Survivor Benefits—will automatically have the stimulus check for adults deposited into their accounts without any action required on their part.

However, if you wish to claim the child payment for eligible dependents and you receive benefits then you can use the Non-Filers: Enter Payment Info Here tool to submit your information.

The IRS also states that it is looking for ways that veterans beneficiaries and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients can receive the stimulus check payments automatically but, if you do not want to wait, you can use the tool to submit your information now.

The economic impact payments are worth up to $1,200 for individuals, $2,400 for married couples and $500 for each qualifying child. The amount you are entitled to is reduced depending on the size of your gross income.
