A woman from Texas who recently rescued a pregnant stray cat has melted hearts on social media by revealing the feline brought all of its newborn babies to her.

In a post shared on TikTok on April 27, under the username @amandasanimalsanctuary, the cat can be seen grabbing her kittens and bringing them to her new loving owner, before laying down to snuggle with them.

The poster explained: "Erin was a stray cat that I took in recently. She was pregnant, of course. After giving birth, she brought me each of her babies, one by one. She wanted to share her babies with me.

"She knows I will love them as much as she does. She can now rest knowing she has a forever home along with her babies."

The heartwarming video came with a caption that said: "This beautiful sole was a stray cat that showed up on someone's property. Knowing the danger she would be in from all the predators, they contacted me.

"I gladly took her in and what a blessing she has been. She was pregnant but gave birth to three babies. She brought me each of her babies one morning to show her love and trust with me."

Each year 6.3 million pets enter U.S. shelters, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. The number of dogs and cats taken in by pet shelters hit 46,807 during January 2023, an increase of 1,744 compared with January 2022, the 24Pet 'Shelter Watch Report' found.

Around 920,000 surrendered animals are euthanized every year. Shelters are striving to minimize euthanasia rates by promoting adoption campaigns, spaying and neutering programs, and behavior rehabilitation.

According to the Humane Society of Macomb, the most common reasons for dog surrenders include age, allergies, behavioral issues, clean-up, cost, moving, new pets, and shedding.
