'Succession' Season 3: Will There Be Another Season and When Will It Be Out?

HBO brought this season Succession to an end in dramatic fashion, with Kendall Roy (played by Jeremy Strong) turning against his father Logan (Brian Cox). Succession's gripping ending left fans wondering when there will be another season and when Season 3 will be available to watch. The events of the finale also left fans desperate to know what would happen in Succession Season 3 following Kendall's betrayal and Roman's (Kieran Culkin) installment as COO.

Will there be another season of Succession?

HBO renewed Succession for Season 3 in August 2019. In a statement, Executive Vice President of HBO Drama Programming Francesca Orsi said: "We are elated that Succession and its exploration of wealth, power and family has resonated so powerfully with audiences. We cannot wait to see how the complex characters that Jesse Armstrong has created continue to navigate this captivating, ruthless world of the uber-rich. In today's world where the intersection of politics and media is increasingly prevalent, Succession presents an especially piercing look behind the curtain of this elite, influential, and cutthroat community."

When will Succession Season 3 be out?

HBO has not revealed the release date for Succession Season 3 yet, but it is expected to air late summer 2020. According to Production Weekly, Season 2 began filming in January 2019, so we should expect a similar shooting schedule for Season 3. HBO declined to comment about when Succession Season 3 is expected to go into production.

However, the previous season began airing on HBO in August and Season 3 is expected to follow suit. Until then, the first two seasons are streaming now on HBO Go and HBO Now.

Who Will Be in the Cast of Succession Season 3?

Most of the main cast is expected to return, though the events of Season 2 suggested that some characters will not be back for Season 3. Almost guaranteed to return, however, are Logan, Kendall, Roman (Kieran Culkin), Shiv (Sarah Snook) and Connor Roy (Alan Ruck), as well as Tom Wamsgans (Matthew McFadyen) and Cousin Greg 'The Egg' Hirsch (Nicholas Braun).

However, following her separation from Logan in Season 2, Marcia (Hiam Abbass) may not return. Also unlikely to come back is Rhea Jarrell (Holly Hunter), whose storyline seems to be complete after her chances of a job at Waystar Royco were destroyed by Shiv.

What Will Happen in Succession Season 3?

As AV Club wrote in the Season 2 finale recap: "Season 1 was Kendall's and season 2 was Shiv's and season 3 will probably be Roman's." This comes after Roman was named Chief Operating Officer of the company in the last episode.

However, there will still be plenty for the other Roys to do, as Kendall faces off against his father and Shiv has to contend with the crumbling of her relationship with Tom following her betrayal of him in the Season 2 finale and their different ideas of what a relationship should look like.

Succession Season 3 is coming soon to HBO.
