Braxton Family Values star Tamar Braxton took to Instagram Monday for the first time since she filed for divorce from music producer Vince Herbert. The couple was married for nearly nine years.
Tamar, 40, stepped out on the red carpet at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas for the 2017 BET Soul Train Awards. She showed off a new hairstyle: a red 'do with bouncy curls.
In her first time posting to social media since the breakup, Braxton shared a picture of herself in a bejeweled silver-and-green gown and thanked her "amazing friends" for helping with her look.
She hinted about her divorce from Herbert in a video that showed her singing her new song, "Blind," into the mirror. "Some things change... when some remain the same. I'm TAMAR," she captioned the clip. The post was liked more than 450,000 times by her 2.8 million followers.
Braxton performed at the event, a gig she teased on Instagram the day before announcing she filed for divorce from Herbert. "So excited to perform at this year's Soul Train Awards," she wrote.
Tamar wasn't the only Braxton sister to make an appearance at the BET Soul Train Awards. Toni was there to accept her lifetime achievement honor: The 50-year-old has sold more than 68 million records worldwide.
While it was Tamar's first public appearance since her divorce, she did not talk about the split on the red carpet.
After she filed court documents last week, it was her rep who issued a statement. "At this time we can confirm Ms. Braxton has made an extremely difficult decision and has filed for divorce from Vincent Herbert," it was reported by People magazineon October 25.
"Collectively, their son Logan and his well-being during this extremely unfortunate process is most important. We ask that everyone respects her privacy during this incredibly difficult time. She appreciates everyone's love and prayers."
Braxton didn't give a reason for the divorce, but her mother claimed Herbert might kill Tamar if he didn't get help.
"I love Vince, but I don't want him to kill my child. As simple as that," Braxton matriarch Evelyn told TMZ on Friday. He needs to "keep his hands off of my child. Stop before he hurts her or kills her." She added: "I think he needs to go and get counseling before someone gets killed."
Tamar's relationship troubles with Herbert are slated to play out on Season 5 of their reality show, Tamar & Vince. It premieres Thursday at 9 p.m. ET on WEtv.
